13 Aug PPE & Diabetes with Peggy Hasenauer & Ashley Cohen
Ashley Cohen is a nurse that worked with Kovler on clinical trial studies. Today, she is in her 3rd year of medical school and is currently helping with sourcing PPE donation.
In Ashley’s words – “Cities across US and the world are facing dire shortages of personal protective equipment. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted everyone, but especially those with chronic illnesses or who’s health and/or socioeconomic status left them vulnerable to illness pre-pandemic. GetMePPE Chicago is an organization founded and run by medical students from across Chicagoland’s medical schools. Hundreds of volunteers help solicit PPE donations from the public and crowdsource using GoFundMe to purchase PPE. Distributions have been made to over 35 hospitals in Chicagoland and over 70 total healthcare facilities.”
