Kovler
is pleased to announce that Cheryl Scott has joined the Kovler
Diabetes Center's team as Clinical Practice Administrator for Kovler,
Endocrinology and Endocrine Surgery.
For the past ten years,
Scott has worked in the Department of Surgery after joining University
of Chicago Medicine in May of 2002. During her time at University
of Chicago Medicine, Scott has participated and contributed to various
initiatives focused on patient satisfaction and service excellence.

A
promising new approach to stem cell research brings together research
groups at the University of Chicago with other collaborators to apply
their complementary expertise in stem cell and developmental biology,
genetics and genomics and beta-cell physiology to address the problem of
generating mature human beta-cells that can be used therapeutically in
patients with type 1 diabetes (TID). In particular, Dr. Philipson
and Bell have been working with James Wells, PhD of the University of
Cincinnati and his lab to continue the momentum of this
research. |
On Saturday, May 18, 2013, The
University of Chicago, Diabetes Research and Training Center and Kovler
Diabetes Center will present the 8th Annual Chicago Diabetes Day from
8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This renowned conference is intended to serve as a
forum for basic and clinical investigators, clinicians and
pharmaceutical industry personnel in Chicago and the Midwest. Along with
a lecture series, a poster session is planned and the top eight posters
will receive an award of $100 each. |
2013
looks to be another exciting year for Kovler Diabetes Center!
Each year Kovler looks for opportunities to engage the community
including educational seminars, diabetes awareness workshops, and
family events that directly supports causes that largely coincides with
the Diabetes Center's mission: to provide the key care and resources
to all individuals with diabetes. Here is a sneak peek of some of these
