Kovler is pleased to announce that Cheryl Scott has joined the Kovler Diabetes Center's team as Clinical Practice Administrator for Kovler, Endocrinology and Endocrine Surgery.

A promising new approach to stem cell research brings together research groups at the University of Chicago with other collaborators to apply their complementary expertise in stem cell and developmental biology, genetics and genomics and beta-cell physiology to address the problem of generating mature human beta-cells that can be used therapeutically in patients with type 1 diabetes (TID).  In particular, Dr. Philipson and Bell have been working with James Wells, PhD of the University of Cincinnati and his lab to continue the momentum of this research.

On Saturday, May 18, 2013, The University of Chicago, Diabetes Research and Training Center and Kovler Diabetes Center will present the 8th Annual Chicago Diabetes Day from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This renowned conference is intended to serve as a forum for basic and clinical investigators, clinicians and pharmaceutical industry personnel in Chicago and the Midwest. AMY FRANZE
Amy Franze is one of Kovler's newest members and already is leaving a great impact in helping further the mission of Kovler Diabetes Center. Amy's interest in Kovler Diabetes Center began several years ago when she joined the JDRF Illinois chapter as Executive Director in 2001. It was during her tenure she was introduced to the staff, valued volunteers and researchers at the University of Chicago.
